TRANSITION PHASE
We recognise that starting a new school can be both exciting
and challenging for our pupils. To support this important step,
every pupil undergoes a carefully planned transition phase
when they join us. This process is designed to ensure that
both new and existing pupils are given the time, space, and
support needed to adjust to changes and settle into school
life effectively.
For new pupils, the transition phase includes:
Meeting key staff such as their class teacher, support
staff, and other familiar adults they will work with
regularly.
Learning new routines to help them feel secure, including
daily schedules and classroom structures.
Exploring the school environment to become comfortable
with new surroundings, including classrooms, shared
spaces, and outdoor areas.
Our aim is to reduce anxiety and
promote a sense of belonging from
the outset. By prioritising this
transition period, we help all pupils
adjust gradually, creating a
foundation for strong relationships,
emotional security, and successful
learning.
